Salvia apiana (white sage, bee sage, or sacred sage) is an evergreen perennial shrub native to the southwestern US and northwestern Mexico, found mainly on the coast of the MOjave and Sonoran deserts. White sage is widely used by Pacific Coast Native American groups. The Cahulla women drink a tea from the roots for healing after childbirth. The leaves are also burned by many for smoke-based purification rituals. White sage possess antibacterial properties.
